Texas Instruments to Build a Second 300mm Wafer Factory in Leehom, Utah

Recently, Texas Instruments (TI) announced that it will build a second 300mm wafer factory in Leehom, Utah, USA.
The new factory will be located next to the LFAB factory of Texas Instruments' existing 300mm semiconductor wafer factory. After the completion of the second factory, it will merge with the existing factory and ultimately operate as one.
In 2021, Texas Instruments acquired Micron Technology's 300mm wafer factory in Lehi, Utah for $900 million. It was put into production at the end of 2022 and can support 65nm and 45nm production technologies to manufacture simulation and embedded processing chips. The products can be applied in fields such as renewable energy, electric vehicles, and space telescopes. According to the official website, Texas Instruments' investment in the Lihai LFAB factory will reach approximately $3 billion to $4 billion.
